Default A4 2.0t special edition Quattro New Headlight help!!

Hey guys,

I just purchased a 2008 A4 2.0t special editon quattro (link bellow). I want to purchase headlights that have the LED running daylight but when searching for them its not like its one size fits all. I notice that it requires original halogen equipped vehicle not xenon connection. How do I know what I have before purchasing new headlights? Is there an easy way of checking if I have halogen or xenon. Please help!!

Turn on your headlights and see which bulb is lit. Then turn on your high beams. If it's the same bulb, you have xenons.

look up another thread thats below you its called b7 LED UPGRADE LIGHT HELP, it tells you all the info you need to know,

but either ore if you have OEM projectors theres no way of upgrading because you simply cant, the connectors and different and they havent came up with an adapter or anything to make it work,

but if you have OEM halogen bulbs then yes you can purchase those on ebay and make it work, its a simple plug and play

EmacPaul thanks, i checked the high beam method as you suggested and Its a different bulb that illuminates. Is there a way to check a connector type or a bulb type I should check to be 100% sure its halogen. Do you think that test is enought to just go for it and buy the headlights?

Bringamac thanks again read the thread but it didnt help much.

Xenons in our cars are bi-xenon, which means they use the same bulb for high and low beam.

So you can be extra sure, halogens use a reflector, like a lightbulb. You can see the bulb, and it's got chrome around it. Xenons use a projector, so there's a big lens in front and you can't actually see the bulb. In the image below, the bulb on the left is halogen, the bulb on the right is xenon. This is a bi-xenon headlamp. With the halogen headlamps, both bulbs are halogen.

I believe the telltale giveaway if you have HIDs or not is there are 2 dials to the right of the headlight control ****. They control the auto dusk setting that you only get with the convenience package. That's how I've been shopping around for my 08 A4 that I'm going to buy.

What's up TAWoody. I have the convenience package on my 08 2.0T Quattro. I believe you are referring to the DRLs. These are actually an option for the car, not included with the Convenience package. I looked at many 08s with and without the different packages-Cold Weather, Convenience, and Titanium, since all the 08s are Premium now. Those 2 dials are, 1 for your front DRLs, and the other are for the rear. Yes, rear DRLs. Your tail lights will actually stay lit up as well. It is a cool feature. The ***** give you the option of whether you want either one on or off at any given time. That's all.

One dial is the DRLs, the other dial is the "coming home" feature, which keeps your fogs and tail lights illuminated for about a minute when you lock/unlock the car if it's dark outside.
