APR program switching technology - worth the extra money?
Made an appointment to get Stage 1 ECU upgrade on my 08 B7 Quattro. Tech asked whether I would like program switching technology for extra $149 and I asked why I would need it. He said that it would allow me to switch back to stock in case of any warranty work concerns and if I was ever unable to get 91 octane gas I could reload the stock map and put in lower octane fuel.
Since I only travel in CA where 91 is readily available, I am wondering whether the switch back to stock for warranty work would be a sensible investment. Anyone care to chime in with their opinions? I am not looking to do anything else to the car, have CPO warranty for another 3 years or 65k miles so don't know what issues might crop up that could be attributed to running a different map . . .
Tech also told me that step from Stage 1 to Stage 2 was really not that much of a difference, other than sound and a very small HP/torque bump. Said from a driving perspective it wouldn't be that noticeable. So any stage 1 to stage 2 converts, anything to add to that???
Thanks,

i have a question myself.
i know stage 1 @ 93 octane puts you and 241hp and 292torque
and stage 2 is a upgraded fuel pump, down pipe and full exhaust.
what are the specs on going stage 2 ? i tried looking at goapr.com but i couldnt find it how much hp and torque difference is it?
thanks

Yes stage 2 is worth it, that guy has no idea what he is talking about. Read my sticky up top for lots of info.
Swapping programs is a must if you have any major warranty work needed as a tune will void the warranty. Get it as it is a small price to pay vs a motor or something.
i hope not though cause im desperate for my tune. lol
Stage 2 does not require a fuel pump or full exhaust. That is Stage 2 (Plus). You only need a downpipe / Testpipe / Highflow cat.

Know if they have run one yet this year? I called them to ask if there was one anytime soon and the rep said he didn't see anything imminent. For the quality of the deal I think I just need to bide my time . . .
