I wish I could say I'd had the same luck. I've been able to get the ashtray assembly out, but not as far as I need. I can hear the blasted change that has the contraption bound up. What's worse, I can't get the assembly back in properly either. I was going to forego completing the repair since I don't need the ashtray or the lighter, but now can't get it back together. At this point I think I will be forced to get the proper tools to remove the stereo unit and then the climate control module in order to do what I need to do.

I'm glad it worked for someone however!

In order to get my tray out, there was a small electrical connection on the bottom right-hand side that I had to disconnect because there was not enough slack on the cable. Getting the tray back in was a little tricky, after some cursing and pushing downward and toward the climate control unit, it eventually slid in and sat right on the bolt holes.

Good luck!

What do you need, the keys to get the head unit out?

Yes, the keys for the audio removal. I haven't hunted them down online yet, but I have to figure they are out there. I'm hoping they aren't expensive. It doesn't really matter since they keys will be cheaper than taking it in to have it done for me.
