Default Black tint smoke, stutters!

I have a few issues with my 2007 2.0 A4. It has 83,000 miles. It runs fine below 2k rpm but when I really get on her or going up a large hill it starts to smoke, black tint, and feels like it missfires (loses power for a second and stutters, like a rev limiter). It burns about a quart of oil every 1,000 miles. The CEL is on but not blinking. I thought it was the coil packs until i brought it into Auto zone and the code came back as P0440, small evap leak. They reset the code and the light hasnt come back on but the problems are still there.

I listened under the hood and didnt smell anything but heard a louder than usual ticking coming from the spark plug area. Almost sounds like a diesel engine.

1st thing to do on these cars is:

Coils
Updated PCV stock or the BSH one that will never fail
Updated Diverter valve (D vesion with the piston)

These items can all cause major issues and throw a multitude of codes or symptoms.

Thanks, I'll run out tomorrow and get a set of coils. For the PCV, is it just the filter that gets replaced? Is a PCV valve different than the filter?

Dealer coils are free if they have not been replaced. Have them run your vin to see if they were changed first. Dont waste money man. If you do buy them they may reimburse you or you can return them.

Took it to the VW dealership today and they told me they can't service recalls, it has to be done at the Audi dealer. So I'm ordering a set of four tonight and will change spark plugs with the coil packs.

any luck yet? my car is sputtering and spitting under boost at about 7-9lbs/3000-4000 rpms. i can not accelerate past 3000 rpms with MAF plugged in. changed and tried 3 different MAFs with the correct engine code. new coils, NGK spark plugs, APR R1 diverter valve, o2 sensor, MAP sensor, swapped ECUs(no difference), replaced hoses, PCV valve and hoses..etc. engine is also running a little bit over 1/2 way within 5 minutes of driving... my tt before this one would run cold constantly..possibly from a stuck thermostat or from not having an upgraded intercooler block the air flow and produce warm air right in front of the fans which pushes that warm air to the engine.. might add 2 fans before my hot intercooler to push in cool air.. replaced thermostat, water pump, ECT,
