Bought car, drove off lot, stutter when taking off from stop :(
My girlfriend bought a 2007 A4 2.0T multitronic earlier today, 25,050 miles on the odo. Beautiful inside and out, so within 20 minutes of driving around town we noticed it jerks when taking off from a full stop within 0-10 mph.
She drove it all around town for about an hour total today with the car in D mode. The first time we both noticed something strange was when she was making a left turn at an intersection (from a stop) and had to lift off the gas quickly and got back on the gas, it was as if the tranny cut off for a sec.
We thought nothing of it, she got cut off, we were glad we didn't hit the person who cut us off. A little later, she pulled into a supermarket and pulled up to a stopsign. She came to a full stop, started to accelerate and within a second of hitting the gas the car blipped (for lack of a better word) real quick as if the tranny went from 1st for like a couple of feet straight to 2nd within a few seconds. It was odd.
We were kind of like "WTF??" at this point. I asked her if she had lifted her foot off the gas pedal at any point during acceleration and she said she hadn't, she had kept it on, steady, constant, consistent. I told her to pay attention tomorrow to see if it happens again.
When we got home, I got out of the car to open the garage, she started pulling in. After she got out of the car, she said it happened again when she started to pull into the garage.
So, the car is friggin SWEET besides this issue. The power, handling, chassis rigidity, interior/exterior design, slick tranny, brakes, I mean this car is awesome, but the stutter from a stop is kinda freaking us out. The car is an '07 with 25k miles, so it's covered under the factory 50k 4 year warranty, but I know stealerships, and I'm worried they are going to make this difficult for us. We literally bought the car just hours ago from a luxury car dealership with a Phantom, SLR, Porche GT3, a couple of Aston Martins and a few Maybachs in the showroom. I am confused. I read some threads regarding similar issues, but they were for previous gen models. Any thoughts?

that's strange. if i bought a used car i would immediately change the oil, oil filter, air filter, etc. i use mobil 1 0W-40. you never know the history of a used car. also be sure to use premium fuel.
it's odd how you say it jerks from a stop. do you mean it pulls hard? i find it's not a very strong pull from a stop because the turbo is still spooling up until after ~1400 RPM. maybe she's not used to driving a turbo. once it kicks in, it pulls hard. i wonder if the previous owner chipped it.

The CVT really isn't smooth coming out of a stop until you get used to it. You'd think being continuously variable it would apply power smoothly, but for some reason it's actually very sensitive. Depending how hard you're pushing down the accelerator pedal, some of it can be ESP kicking in (especially going around corners).
Sounds like normal turbo-lag from a dead stop (it gets worse when the weather gets hot). When I first purchased my car I thought there was something wrong with it because of this lag. I must have called the dealer several times and even took it in to have it looked at. I even posted in the forums a few times. Everyone said the same thing, it's the CVT tranmission and turbo lag. Sucks, but it is what it is.
Take it back then, if it happened the day you bought it have the dealership deal with it. It may be normal CVT function though, they are a little wierd. If you are below 50k the dealership will fix any issues no questions asked.
Thanks for all the replies folks. My girlfriend went back to the dealership today with her dad. They acknowledged the problem, the mechanic actually knew about the issue with the car but hadn't told the manager yet, he didn't know the car had already been sold. They took the car, gave my girlfriend an Infiniti EX35 as a loaner (it's sweet btw), and they took the car to Audi themselves. The mechanic said the tranny had a leak and he was going to take it to Audi today but the car had already sold over the weekend. The dealership as I said earlier is a luxury car dealership and they want to maintain a high level of service/image. So, they are taking care of my girl, which is very surprising to me, as I've always been worked by dealerships.
The car is a monster btw, there is no turbo lag, the stutter occurs within 0-5mph and it's like an automatic with a valve body mod, it's almost like the car either dumps itself from first to second or vice versa. It's a slight jerk or kick feeling sorta like wheelslip but it's definitely not wheelslip. I really can't believe how awesome the Audi is though, I mean we are driving the Infinity EX35 and that is a monster as well, but we are missing the Audi, it's so taught and responsive. Anyway, we'll see what happens when she gets the car back tomorrow or the next day. Thanks again.

I bought a used 2005 with CVT and 24K mi in February.
Starts seemed a little harsh, at first. I could feel the clutch engaging with a jerk.
This smoothed out after a month.
Probably because the car had been sitting around at the dealer without regular use, and the clutch was grabby.
Hardly notice anything, now.
