Default Buying a B7/B8 A4?

hi guys, after sign up and exploring AudiForums, I have a question!
How come almost everybody talking about leasing, and it seems no one interested in actually buying the car. I have been thinking about buying a B7/B8 A4, and so far the forum haven't been much help. Anyone got a opinion on Leasing vs Buying?
Thanks.

I for one purchased my 2008 A4. I've never been one to lease a vehicle, as I like to keep my cars for a long time, and like not having a car payment after it has been paid off.

IMO, leases are for those who 1) replace their cars every 2-3 years and 2) allow those to drive a more expensive vehicle, who originally could not afford it, if purchased out right....

I bought. I think it really depends how long you want to keep it. If you like to upgrade every few years, you're probably better off leasing. If you want to keep it for at least a few years after you've paid off your loan, buy it. You'll have a higher monthly payment if you buy it, but once you've paid it off you're done! Of course, it's gonna be out of warranty by then, so you'll have to pay for any repairs yourself.

i bought as well (thank you dumb woman driver who plowed me head on doing 50:-D!!) imo, if you can buy i say do it b/c you're allowed alot more freedom to do what you want with the car and not have to worry about the miles or anything, also if your already on a forum it seems like you would be interested in doing mods which would be a hassle dealing with a lease when bringing it back to the dealer

thsats just my opinion tho

ya, if you wanna do mods i would say to buy the car that way you dont have to take them off when you take it back at the end of your lease

My philosophy is simple: leasing has all the disadvantages of ownership with none of the benefits aside from being able to lease more car than you could buy. Leases cause you to pay more in insurance, monitor your mileage, pamper the car (else get raped for every ding and scrape on turn-in) and restrict your customization. If you are one who drives few miles and like a new car every 2-3 years and doesn't have an inclination to mod your ride, then leasing may be an acceptable choice if priced appropriately. An acquaintance of mine recently leased a VW Jetta and considering her 3 year lease, she is making payments that add up to the price of the car...that's a terrible lease.

Also, if one decides to lease, never ever do any up-front payment as part of the lease. I always recommend buying used; a car that is 1 year old with several thousand miles on it is ideal. Most likely a used car that new still has a warranty and was either turned in from a short-term lease or was a program car (manufacturer perk to employees who the "evaluate" it) or perhaps repossessed by the financier.

thanks a lot guys!!!
I personally agree with most of what you said. For one, I don't have the passion to do car shopping every 2-3 years. Second, I am gonna do long miles. I thought buying a car would be a wise choice, and it's great to know there are guys out there thinking the same. Again, thanks a lot!

I would buy outright as well, although I'm all for other people leasing cars, because I got my 06 a4 at a steal as a lease return.

I got a dealer quote on a fully loaded A4 avant SE, Navi., Conv., S-line, Bose, and they are asking for $41800 for the Black/black. I am thinking push it down to about $36800, what do you guys think?
