the warning light you talk about is the automatic headlight range control.
There are 2 sensors,1 on the front lower suspension and also the rear.
Try recallibrating the headlights using vagcom or vas 5051.
(just light setting the headlights with the good old fashioned screw driver to pass a mot test.)
