Default Car idling roughly

Hey everyone, I'm a new member here and the original owner of a 2008 Audi A4 2.0T automatic. I got my car's 15,000 mile service done in January even though my car only had about 10,000 miles on it. The car told me to get it serviced and because I love it so much, I obliged. I figured it was because I had had it for about a year, but the guy at the dealership said it was some sort of fault with the car. Anyway ever since I got the car back from the audi dealership, I noticed the car idling roughly after the engine was already warm. A few weeks back after a roughly 120 mile drive (60 miles each way) I had the car idling with the passenger door open and the door was vibrating pretty violently. On friday I drove the car about 15-20 miles and noticed that the car was idling roughly every time I stopped at a stop light. My friends noticed this as well. Is there something seriously wrong? Should I be worried?

not an audi owner but my friend with 2.0t had the same. In my Nissan it was called Idle Control Valve. This "valve" or a "sensor" can and will if faulty cause this type of problem (Nissan had a screw that could adjust idling)

It does tend to idle a bit rough, but there shouldn't be violent shaking.

this is from consumer reports:

"None: The throttle body control valve tends to sludge up on the 1.8L turbo engine causing a very low or uneven idle."

might be the same with 2.0t

the same thing is happening to my dads car, it idles very rough, but not enough for the door to shake..in my dads audi there a light above his speedometer saying "check" (i think) it should be orange and thats what is wrong. but he still hasn't taken it to the dealer yet.

I hope not, I put in (aka pay for) at least 91 every time i fill up the car.

mack917- no check engine light is on either.

I drove the car a little today (maybe a mile or 2) but the engine didn't get warm enough/idle long enough for me to notice anything this time

For many years, all Audi gasoline engine cars have no seperate idle air control valve. There is no direct connection between gas pedal and throttle body. Throttle body will work as idle air control valve. There is no mechanical adjustment for idle speed.

You should bring the car in to check the rough idle problem as soon as possible. Rough running is very harmful for engine and catalyst converter.
