Read the stickies up top about performance. This will be purely a sound mod a little to no gain come from our nicely flowing cat backs. I would say go the cheapest route or even just buying a muffler and have it welded on. I have always had great results with Magnaflow or Dynomax Ultraflo.

may as well just do the whole exhaust. from the turbo down; downpipe to the cat to the cat-back.

The whole exhaust is very expensive. Thats why i suggested just the muffler. Everything is overpriced on the german cars. If he wants a chip I would suggest the Ebay test pipe and muffler only to compliment and not break the bank.

the exhaust is no more expensive than any other make. what is a muffler going to do other than to give his car a useless ricer mod (no power but lots of noise)?

if this guy wants real performance mods then the downpipe is the biggest bottleneck for a stock engine. if he wants ricer mods then he can get a glasspack muffler with a folgers can exhaust tip.

Thats what I am saying is get the DP. Dont spend money on a full exhaust as stated as an expensive cat back is not needed. If he wants louder sound then the cheap thing is a muffler. I did not tell the guy to rice it out.
