Went to auto zone and they read p0507 and p0171. '06 a4 51k am waiting to get to 55k for service. The common item may be vacuum leak. I have never opened the hood to listen to the motor more than twice in the 3 yrs I've owned this car. Wouldn't know what sounds are supposed to be there. On the way home from work the car would surge (rpm would rise/fall 2-300 rpm) as i drove 35mph or so. At highway speeds it was ok. ????? no clue. Should I just take it to (Blairs) the local VW/Audi Service Guru? (I don't mean the dealer).

Blairs called today, the problem is the PCV valve. Told them to go ahead with it.

thanks for sharing. is it covered under the warranty? check with the local audi dealership and see if they can re-imburse you.

48 months was up a year ago. Out of warranty. Thai did fix it. Now the brake indicator came on today.....it has only been a year since the stealership told me I needed a brake job, I have been waiting for it to happen. Where does everyone get their brake parts from? I'll have to do some research. Just after oem replacement stuff.

Default PCV and Brake Parts

The PCV failed (whistling noise) on my 2008 A4 3L Turbo about a year ago. It was replaced under warranty.

Regarding brake parts, if you do not plan to race your Audi brake parts from a local auto parts store will work just fine. There are lots of choices, but make sure to select brake pads that reduce noise and brake dust. If you have not worn the brake pads down to the metal baking plates, most likely you will not need to replace the rotors. Just make sure that they are relatively smooth to the finger touch.
