Default Current A4 Special Edition Lease...Thoughts?

Saw this offer, and I think I might jump on it. I'm looking to pick something up this month, and have been looking for a few months. Came down to an S60r, A4, or G35.

This lease deal is pretty tempting...$399, 10K miles, $0 down except for taxes/title.

Went to the dealer, drove her around, and had a blast. They even had one loaded exactly how I wanted with the convenience packge, nav, and black on black. Upgrading these options and to 15K miles per year, comes out to $2,500 down and $538 a month.

What do you guys think of this?

Also, they're offering the service package for $650. Good deal? Bad deal? Worth it or not?

Umm..Thats not tooo great...I just leased a white 08 a4 special edition quattro with full S line/interior. Everything included except navi. im paying 411 a month for it. Oh, and i got the titanium package with the 18' 15 spoke rims. I think if you look a little further you might pull a better deal..

Thanks for the reply/info.

How many miles on your lease?
What did you put down?
Was it this current promotion I'm talking about, or was it there regular lease offer?
How'd you manage to get the Ti package on the Special Edition? Did you ask them to install it, or did they have one like that?

Sorry for all the questions!!

Oh, and since I'm new to leases...I'm not sure how this works, but can you ask for extras? How do you look around for leases? I thought the lease deals were dictated by Audi and it is what it is, I didn't know there variances for the same vehicle?

Also the convenience ($2,100) and navi ($2,100) add a bit to the lease.

They gave me 10000 miles a year... I put down 2000. Im not sure if it was the same exact promotion. The dealer i went to didnt have the one i was looking for, so they did a trade in from another dealer. The Ti package was already on the car, but im sure you can always add it to one if they dont come with it. Last i checked the package was around 500$ and they come with Pirelli P6's. I got really lucky with mine cause they arent that easy to find in manual. Im leasing the car for three years. You dont end up paying the whole car which is around 38K$, instead you pay around 22-24K$ by the time your lease is over. Usually for every extra 1000$ worth of packages to the car it adds about 20$ a month to your payment. They can give you a way better deal, they just chose not to sometimes..For 675$ a month i could have gotten a manual 335 fully loaded, which is a much faster car obviously. At first i was looking for the new S4..but they were marking the price up wayyyyyy to much. It all depends on luck man, if i were you id try to get one towards the end of the month, they give you much better deals then because of the fact they want to make some more commission before they get their paycheck. Which dealer did you go to?

I'd wait for the 2009 (B8) to come out and look for a lease then, or better yet buy a B7. The prices probably won't bottom out immediately, but look for dealers with extra B7 stock to want to move 'em.

Here's what they're asking now:

Black on Black
2008 A4 2.0T Quattro Special Edition (gives rims/sat radio/heated seats/sun roof/s line exterior/sport interior/ipod (rather have the cd changer to be honest))
Add Navigation Package ($2100)
Add Convenience Package (2100)
Add Maintenance Package ($650)
Add miles to 15K per year from 10K
Residual at about $19K at end of lease.

$538 a month, $1K down sign and drive (Audi pays first month lease, waive security deposit, etc)

What do you guys think?

I may offer them $511 a month and ask for free winter mats.

What are you guys thinking putting money down on a lease?

You need to look at what a lease actually is before you hop into these deals. Putting $2500 down on a lease is just buying your monthly payment down up front, that is it. Imagine you rented an apartment and the landlord said "Well, rent is $1500 a month, but if you pay me $2000 right now, it will only be $1300 a month!"

As you can see, that is pretty damned stupid. Not to mention, if anything happens to that car, you just lost $2500. Just think how pissed you would be if you wrecked it a month after buying it. Not only do you not have a car (since insurance will pay Audi Financial for it), but you already pissed away $2500 to buy your payment down, and you aren't getting it back.

Never, ever, ever, ever buy into those payment buydown deals. They are complete bullshit.

I've been looking at doing a lease as well.

The A4 2.0 T CVT Special Edition is $31,825 for $399 or monthly payment of 1.2537% of the vehicle price
The A4 2.0 T quattro Special Edition is $34,100 for $419 or monthly payment of 1.2287% of the vehicle price
The A4 Cabriolet 2.0 T CVT is $41,275 for $479 or monthly payment of 1.1605% of the vehicle price
The A4 Cabriolet 2.0 T quattro is 43,375 for $499 or monthly payment of 1.1504% of the vehicle price

Just calculate the percentage of the price to make sure you are still getting the same/similar deal when you add on the options. Changing the mileage will increase the percentage.

Yes, not having to put any money down makes these deals sweet compared to the other lease deals for BMW, Mercedes, etc...

All you need to worry about is the residual value and the money factor in a lease. Audi's have a pretty damn good residual compared to other vehicles.
