In dash dvd ?
Hi guys I join the forum a few weeks ago.
I am looking to up grade to an indash DVD. I don't need nav. maybe XM at some point. I have narrowed my choices to the JVC KW-AVX640 or the PIoneer AVH-P2300 . Also planning on getting the PAC C2R-AUDI. I also am considering the connects2 harness. To get to the point. Has anyone installed either HU using the PAC or the Connects2.
Will i need any additional hardware? If anyone has pic or vid of this install it would much appreciated. I look forward to your responses.

Ok, here's the basic answer.
You *WILL* need to get a code for your stock radio (and only the stock radio) if you unplug it from the wiring harness. The dealers will provide these codes to you free of charge. You just need to tell them what your VIN # is, as well as the number located on the top of the radio.
As far as putting in an after market DVD player, any double-din head unit will fit for these cars. My preference in radios has always been Pioneer, which is what I installed.
You'll need to do the relay trick to be able to use your car without the parking break pulled. It works, though. It's just a tiny bit more difficult than a conventional install.

My unit is the Pioneer AVH-3200BT. They currently have the 3300BT available.
My car had the Symphony II radio stock, so to tap in to some of the wires, I had to do some modifications to an existing plug harness. This video explains it.
For what it's worth, I used the Metro brand wiring harnesses.

Ok so it took me a while to do this. I finally go around to purchasing a new head unit. I went with the JVC KW-AV70BT. PAC CR2-Audi harness(see pick). Also adding the XM tuner.
So far I have finish the harness connection. This harness is a mess. The instructions that they send are kinda of useless. So I am hoping that it done correctly. If you see anything in the photo that doesn't look correct. Please let me know. I will connect the PB wire once in the car. I will upload additional photos as I move a long.

Ok so I had to switch to the other harness. Learned a hard lesson. Anyway, once I had that taken care off. I ran a long ground wire to the fuse area. I took a wire to feed the USB cable in to the glove box. So here is a note. If you have a B7-non Bose and thinking about use a PAC cam bus. Use the one with the RED connector. I their pictures is the hardness on the left. Other wise, if anyone has any question feel free to ask.
(update) One more thing. I bought this from Crutchfield. I realized that after I had the unit in. I didn't even use their "master sheets". Because they only tell you how to remove the OEM head unit. So doing a little research you would save a little money. Unless your completely color blind, you can easily handle the harness.

Ok so after listening a few days. I notice that there was a lack of Bass. If I faded to the rear. I only get sound from the right rear. and that is kind of muffled. So I thought perhaps one of the RCA's wasn't connected. So I ripped out the metro case. ( replaced it of course). The RCA's weren't the issue. I have the blue from PAC connected to the Blue and the antenna connected from the JVC harness. If anyone has any suggestion please send them on.
