Default Diesel Fuel Consumption

I have an October 2007 A4 Avant S-Line with the larger 2.0 diesel engine. It spends most of its on-road life at a cruise-controlled 130KPH (81.2MPH) in sixth gear on the French autoroute system. At that speed, in that gear, it's doing 2300 RPM. Most of the time the aircon is on.

Since new I've carefully monitored every tankfull. The consumption is amazingly consistent over time; 14 kms/litre - 33 miles/U.S. gallon - 40 miles/imperial gallon.

Any thoughts on whether that's good, bad or indifferent?

Thanks, Tom

I was thinking diesel's were supposed to get better mileage than that... more like 40-50 miles/U.S. gallon. But maybe that's in a smaller car.

Anyway, your mileage is significantly better than the 2.0 gasoline!

yeah i would say thats pretty good mileage for your car. but do you think you could tell us what you were supposed to get, or what the average mpg or kpl is that they told you when you bought it?
