Default do you rotate your own tires?

i need to rotate my tires this spring and i wanna do it myself. i googled to make sure that the X pattern is right for quattro but one website said that it is a complex procedure that should only be done by pros. but another says anyone with the proper tools can do it.

how many of you guys do it yourself? are there any issues with balance when rotating the tires? my alignment is good and tires are balanced, so rotating doesnt affect these right? any tips or tricks for a quattro a4?

thanks

Why? It's a heck of a lot of work with just a jack and there are a bunch of places (Discount Tire happens to be my favorite, but you may not have those) that will rotate them for free or very little.

Before you do an X pattern, make sure your tires aren't unidirectional. Mine are, so they only get rotated front-to-back.

I rotated them myself once on my Mustang. Never again. Not worth the effort.

Free?! Did you buy the tires there and they include that service? I don't know of any shops around central ny that'll do that. You're lucky lol
But I like workin on my car and will prolly do it when I change my oil soon. And I don't have directional tires, just all seasons.

I rotate mine myself. It is a good time to clean the inside of the rim up while they are off. I had a lot of break dust in there. I use the front to back method on my Audi as my tires were one directional (they have to rotate a certain direction). Also, I can floor jack up one side of the car and swap the tires and then the other side.

Rotating should not create any problems with alignment or balance of the tires.

as long as you have a jack and a stand or 2 sitting around, its the easiest thing on earth. go for it.

Yup, free. No need to buy the tires there. They check the pressure and air them up if you need it too. Balancing is extra (if you didn't buy the tires there), but if it's just rotation, they will do it for free. It's good business because they stand to make some money on you when you finally wear through the tires and need new ones. Like me--I need four new ones and I'll definitely be headed there in the next week or two once I know my income tax situation for this year.
