Default Engine is slow to get to operating temp

Hi,

I have an Audi A4 2007 2.0T. I have noticed it can take a long time (~10+ minutes of driving) before it gets up to operating temp (12 o'clock/90c). Way longer than my A4 04 1.8T (~2 minutes of driving). In Nov, I replace the t-stat with a dealer one, as the old one would be slow to close. Did a coolant flush at that time and replaced with dealer supplied coolant and distilled water. I do get heat blowing, and it does eventually get up to temp.

Is it typical for the 2.0 to take a while to warm up? Or suggestions on what to look at?

My 2008 takes about 15 minutes to get fully warmed up (on a 30s F degree morning) so it seems about right (or mine is slow too).

Yeah, it is -30c here today. I notice the warm up time starts to get longer after -5c or so. I do notice it takes a while to get off 1/4 but once it does it warms up the rest of the way quicker, it seems. I have the belly pan off. I wonder if that will effect the retained heat any and help the warm up.

Today I played with the heat inside. I turned the fan down from full to only 3-4 bars. That seemed to help it warm up faster. Colder today too. My B6 still heats up faster.
