Default Engine stalling due to heat?

i was doing some local driving, stop & go, then about 20 minutes of idle for an inspection, then driving some more. I parked to shop for about 40 minutes and when I started the car back up it ran for a moment and just stalled out like it was out of fuel. Tried to start a few more times and each time harder to start and then the same stall out. Opened up hood and removed the forward cover on my 2005 B7 3.2L and the hard fuel lines were extremely hot to the touch. Fans were NOT turning. I waited about 15 minutes and car started, fans came on immediately. I drove home with heat on and hood unlatched with no issue. Seem that I only see the fans spinning if I have the heat on. Is this correct? Temp gauge never goes past mid way ever. Just not sure what issue(s) Im facing.

Any ideas or suggestions? Was the fuel vaporizing due to the heat build up? Bad LPFP? HPFP was replaced already.

Thanks
