Default Final Decision, BOV or DV?

I just made enough money to either buy a DV or BOV. The problem is, people are saying BOVs are worse for your engine/turbo than a DV, because a DV recirculates the air while a BOV lets it off into the atmosphere. What's the deal with a BOV vs. DV? Btw, i have a 2.0t.

well, the car was designed for a DV for a reason.
Changing to a BOV will probably throw a CEL, but i havent come across anyone with a BOV to know for sure.

The computer is looking for that recirculated air, and if it doesnt find it, it will probably ask you wth you are doing.

Id advocate sticking with a 100% diverter valve, or if you absolutely MUST have the sound of a BOV, try to get an adjustable 50/50 DV and set 20% atmospheric and 80 recirc.

just my opinion.

on MAF (mass air flow metered) equipped cars you would want to run a diverter valve opposed to a bov(one that is recirculated would be ok). A diverter valve is sending the "trapped" air back into the intake tract just before the turbo keeping the air consistent. A bov releases the air to the atmosphere which can result in the MAF sensor reading a "rich" condition as some of the air isn't in the intake tract anymore which might throw a CEL. On MAP sensor based cars like my Dodge Neon SRT-4 I'm running a bov as it reads intake pressure as opposed to volume...hope this helps

Yes, a bov WILL work on your car. If they didnt, forge would make them. Its up to you on how loud you want to be. I just wish people knew before they talked around here. Nothing like noobs giving out bad advise to other noobs. BTW, they use a closed airbox to reduce noise also, how many people ditch those?

sorry about the "bad" info as pertaining to B7...MAF sensor equipped cars should not run a bov, but MAP sensor cars can run a bov w/no driveability problems.

I am a noob so if somone could clarify what kind of sensor's the B7 audi's run would be great!

A Greddy S which has the option to recirculate would be ok as long as you can find a 2.0t flange/adapter for it, correct?
