FWD versus AWD Quattro
Anyone want to comment on the front wheel drive A4? I understand the FWD uses the CVT auto tranny? The price difference between the 2 models is small.
Should I consider only the Quattro model? I am looking at 2007 and 2008 CPO models. Thanks, JDBOXSTER |
Probably best to start your own thread with this question... but I have the FWD/CVT, and I like it.
|
I have a 2007 FWD 2.0T with the 6 speed manual tranny. I love the performance it has over any CVT that I have driven.
|
if you get snow where you live i'd say go for the all wheel drive
|
cvt is smooth
|
I have AWD. It snows where I live and I wouldn't drive without it. This includes the drives on mountain roads when it's dry. I like the way this car doesn't under-steer...it just grips. Also, I was recently driving in heavy rain and witnessed a 2wd rig about eat it at 80 mph. I didn't have that issue with awd....
Another note...the best rally cars are AWD.... |
Actually I believe almost all rally cars are AWD today. At least the ones I see racing here in Europe are. Of course there are exceptions to AWD in rallys, I remember the legendary Opel Ascona 400 won 3 years in a row and it was a rear wheel drive. Also the Lancia Delta was a winner several years in a row, and I think it was 2wd as well.
But of course the best cars in the world are not very good in the hands of incompetent drivers! |
Im lost, why is this a sticky?

Sorry if this is not the right place, I'm new and don't know where i goes. If someone could help me with a problem, I'd appreciate it.
Just bought a used 2008 A4 2.0 quattro. Did not come with a satillite radio so I found one on line from Europaparts for cheap. from what I read on the web I got an old one with the dual antenna connectors not a single one. My pre wired has only 3 plugs, including the atenna not four. The satellite mopdule has dual antenna outputs which means there are four. From what i read the ones with four are old and the new cars won't recognize it. But Europparts said it would and emailed me instructiuons which involve a 2000 dollar scanning tool and changing CAN BUS connector (???????) They say you have to do this with any module. My question is, if I buy a newer sat module, that is for the newer car and only has three inputs, will it work after I simply plug it in or will I still have to do all this stuff with the scanning tool. I thought I could simply plug it in and activate it. Thanlks |

In CVT there are no gears and gear ratio changes when there is a change in structure of two pulleys and it is also known as continuous variable transmission.
