Default FWD versus AWD Quattro

Anyone want to comment on the front wheel drive A4? I understand the FWD uses the CVT auto tranny? The price difference between the 2 models is small.
Should I consider only the Quattro model?
I am looking at 2007 and 2008 CPO models.

Thanks,
JDBOXSTER

Probably best to start your own thread with this question... but I have the FWD/CVT, and I like it.

I have a 2007 FWD 2.0T with the 6 speed manual tranny. I love the performance it has over any CVT that I have driven.

I have AWD. It snows where I live and I wouldn't drive without it. This includes the drives on mountain roads when it's dry. I like the way this car doesn't under-steer...it just grips. Also, I was recently driving in heavy rain and witnessed a 2wd rig about eat it at 80 mph. I didn't have that issue with awd....

Another note...the best rally cars are AWD....

Actually I believe almost all rally cars are AWD today. At least the ones I see racing here in Europe are. Of course there are exceptions to AWD in rallys, I remember the legendary Opel Ascona 400 won 3 years in a row and it was a rear wheel drive. Also the Lancia Delta was a winner several years in a row, and I think it was 2wd as well.

But of course the best cars in the world are not very good in the hands of incompetent drivers!
