Default Has your A4 been reliable? Please tell me either way

Hey there!

I come from a family that has owned four bullet-proof Toyota products, including a 92 LS400 with 230k that's still going strong. I currently drive a 99 Camry LE, its biggest problem to date was an O2 sensor that died once.

I want to upgrade to something a little more stylish and fun, and I'm too tall for the IS250. I really like the B7 generation A4 and have checked out some certified used ones. I've done some internet research and talked to owners and have learned the following:

- The general internet is loaded with threads with people who have been burned hard by their A4's. Granted I know most people only bother to post when they're upset, but it was a lot more common than I expected.

- Owners I talked to in person all tend to love their A4's, but seemed to comment that problems start cropping up around 50k. Most used A4's aren't terribly far away from 50k. One coworker of mine has poured literally thousands into his S4.

- Consumer Reports has A4's as about average, compared to my Camry's rating of well above average.

So, I'd like to hear from some long time Audi owners about their experiences. The forums I'd seen up until this one were all full of people who were upset to begin with - so I wanted to come here and see if I could a more even sample. Thanks!

-Mike

well i can't say im a long time owner, as i only got mine earlier this summer in June, but have yet to have a problem, and my friend has 2 audi's (S4 and A8) and neither of them have had significant problems with their car that have costed them out of the pocket. Everything has been covered under the warrenty besides buying new tires. I would definitely suggest an audi, the B7's get great gas mileage, low on insurance premiums even for students ( i am in college and pay around $1000/year for insurance) and plenty of truck space and has plenty of giddy up for most ppls liking. The warrenty is also quite good and will cover pretty much everything as long as you haven't messed with aftermarket products. so overall i have good things to say about it.
