Have you had experience with both 2.0 and 3.2 engines in an A4?
I put this in the B6 forum by msitake so sorry for the repost here.
I am trying to decide between two wagons, a 2006 A4 with a 3.2 and a 2007 with a 2.0. The 3.2 car is more expensive and not local to me. Both cars are at Audi dealers. I have driven the 2007 2.0 and found it "buzzy", though it was fast enough it was lacking something, at least in the short test drive I had. To try to help with my comparison I also drove the dealers 2008 3.2 sedan which felt more solid, (sport suspension maybe?). I do know how popular VW/Audi 2.0 turbo is.
In the past I have owned a 2001 S4 wagon (stolen outside a Barnes and Noble and torched in Newark N.J., nice). Though I'm not interested in a newer S4 at this point I wouldn't mind as much oomph as I can get, (but I don't believe in chips).
So has anyone here spent a lot of time with both engines in an A4 and will I be happier spending more money on the 3.2? Thank you, Yale

Without a chip you won't be able to get much more out of the 2.0T, and without doing something like putting a turbo on, you won't be able to get much more out of the 3.2.
So you'd have to base your decision on whether the stock performance of the 3.2 is worth it to you over the 2.0T.
If it's only the suspension that's holding you back from the 2.0T, you can certainly upgrade that.

Thanks Paul.
My question was has anyone driven A4's with both engines more then perfunctorily and is my impression that the 3.2 has more ***** (sorry don't know what else to say here), accurate - or are both more similar then my initial and possibly misguided viewpoint lead me to believe?

OK I bought the 2006 3.2. Felt a lot like my old S4 wagon without the turbo push as the revs build. (Same engine?) Anyway just drove back from KY last night to NYC. Great drive, car was wonderful, didn't get any tickets, didn't slam into the car going the wrong way directly infront of my on Highway 68 in West Virginia, so a good time was had by all.
My question, car has sport suspension which is great except in very rough NYC streets and of course that is where I live. 17" wheels with tire monitors came on the car. is there a way to adjust the shocks so that they actually dampen? Or should I try for 16" wheels? Thoughts. Thanks. Yale
