Default Help with my new Audi!

Hi,

I'm new here... Obviously...

Got myself a 2008 Audi A4 Avant 2.0 TDI quattro. The car rolled out from the store late fall 08 (after B8 was on the market). The car is kind of special with only 3 of a kind here in Norway, and it's packed and I'm very pleased with it.

I need some help with the phone stuff. I got a phone thing in my center console. Also bluetooth. I have one Nokia phone and one iPhone.

How can I use this connector in the center console? I reckon I need to buy an adapter?

Also I found an article a while back ago where I could chip this car to get apx 245 bhp (from the 170 that's in it now). It was just a unit you could plug into the car data connector, just plug and play... I can't find it now. Anyone know about this? I don't want to flash the firmware or do anything physic about the car - all I want is a unit I can connect / disconnect without having to think about anything

Thanks guys!

Welcome! Not a whole lot of TDI's on here.

For the phone connect, I'm not actually sure what it's for... I leave my phone in my pocket (a Nokia of some description) the whole time do do the bluetooth connection. You have to pair the car with the phone, and then it will load your contacts and let you call them and receive calls directly from the steering wheel controls.

I don't know what options there are for TDI chips, but all of the options I'm aware of for the gasoline motors involve do involve reflashing the ECU.

Hey thanks for the reply.

Here's the center console connector:

The car is E8 type, but I can't find a E8 subforum here so I hope this is the most likely place to hang out?...

Yeah TDis are probably more popular here, mainly due to extreme taxation. I needed Quattro so it was either this or the 3.0. The Audi I got has a list price of apx $101.000 fully equipped here (!!!) and a 3.0 starts at $115.000!

List price of Audi Q7 starts around $210.000.

Welcome to my world...

I've read TDis are very "chip willing". Just trying to find back this thing I came across a while ago. Simple plug and play, and just disconnect if you don't want the firmware override.

Yeah, I've got the same connector in my armrest... but I don't use it for anything. Unless it's the actual bluetooth transmitter. :/

That's for EUROPEAN customers - not us. The bluetooth module is tucked away somewhere (God knows where). Read the manual and it'll tell you the steps to "mate" with your phone

Thanks guys! I found out it's called "Handy Adapter". The adapter is unique for each phone model more or less it seems. Looks like this and is mounted ontop of that connector in my other picture.

I can do Bluetooth too but I'd like to have dual sim card and one phone hidden in this center console all the time, fully charged

Looks like I can order it online from Germany.

Still looking for that plug and play override chip though...
