Hi everyone,
This is my first post - I joined the site because I'm in the market for an b7 audi a4 (Black interior, 6 speed manual, 2.0 turbo) Below is a link to a vehicle I'm considering. I test drove it today and it drove wonderfully. The only problems are 3 of the wheels have curb rash and the glove box hangs slightly. There is a slight scratch on the rear number from a shopping cart as well

Anyway, since I've used forums for all my cars so far (Hyundai Tiburon, Mazda 3, Ford Ranger, Jeep Grand Cherokee), I trust you guys know the issues with the current year in question and can assess best if this is in fact a "good deal."

2005 audi a4 quattro 2.0t, 83,000 miles, asking 12K. Will offer 10K.

What do you guys think?

Doesn't look bad. Timing belt will be due for change in about 20 to 30k miles. Glove box is a common issue that I have read about and shouldn't be a big deal to fix. Curb rash happens, but doesn't mean the driver was plowing into curbs. More likely they parked often at a curb and scrapped against it every so ofter. Really don't know if price is good or not but doesn't seem to be out of what I would expect. Manuals can be tough to find.

You can read the sticky's for more informtion. The main itesm are:

1. Cam follower issue that now has extend coverage through Audi.
2. Oil consumption on some cars.
3. PCV and diverter value failures. Not a major cost or issue to replace either.

Love my 2008 A4 and have not experienced any issues with it. Good luck.

Sounds like a pretty decent car. Tires will run you $600-700. The glove box is a common problem (probably needs the door and the little shock absorber replaced).

Just be aware that the 2005.5 was the introduction of the B7, so they were still working out some kinks. rhodes listed the highlights above. Definitely see if they'll be honest about the oil consumption. They may not, but at least try. My 2006 doesn't use any oil--others have to top off with a full quart between oil changes.
