? The type of ipod doesn't particularly matter, as long as it has a dock connector (which they all do) you should be good.

You can only use the first 7 playlists (maybe only 6 I forget), it will not show names and will only read up to 99 tracks in each playlist. So I wouldn't buy a new fancy iPod if you are only going to leave it in the car. Buy a cheap used or new one that is only 8 gigs or so. Unless you plan on using it for other times then get whatever.

I bought a 2008 A4 Quattro early this week and that came with a Ipod hook up in the glove box instead of the 6 cd changer. My Iphone, which fits there does not recognize the hookup. I do not have an ipod. Will check with the 4th generation or so before I buy one for the car.

cheers

i had the same issue with u. the factory ipod connection is absolute ****. I would suggest buying the "dice" ipod connecter and having it installed in your car. I got the whole thing done for 200$. lets you control the ipod from your ipod or iphone (which is what i use).

I have an ipod touch but all should fit. I need to wedge a matchbook under the ipod to get it to play however. If i dont, the system wont connect. It has 6 playlists but you can unplug it, select another, press play plug it back in and you have that playlist. Its not ideal but i like it better than the 6 disc.
