Intermittent Gauge issue?

Intermittent Gauge issue?
I noticed today that my temperature gauge wasn't functioning (had the car for a little over a week and it functioned fine).
Ran a log on Vag-Com and it the temp is a little slow to rise? I didn't break the 80* barrier until ~8mins.
Temp gauge would go up to halfway before, not it won't move (pegged at C) or will peg somewhere else. It pegged at a little before 5/8 earlier and 1/8 as well. When I turn the car off the gauge stays there.
Scanned for codes and I have none. I monitored the Coolant Temp and the gauge in no shape represents true coolant temp (IE 85* when car was pegged at 5/8 earlier)
What should I be looking at? Possible failed gauge?
