A little more UMPH!!!!!!!
I just traded in my 3.0 and bought a 2005.5 2.0 TFSI and am a big fan so far! Yet I am still looking for a little more umph out of this car. I don't know a ton about mods for these vehicles and am looking for some advice on minor changes that will give me a little more HP but still allow it to be a daily driver. Thanks guys.
Are there any other mods that I need to do before I chip it? For example in my powerstroke, I needed to do the intake and exhaust before I put my chip in allowing more airflow (lower egt's) and overall better performance. Is it the same on these vehicles?
you don't need to do a thing to your car. What the chip (actually it's a flash program inserted into the cars computer) does, is essentially raise the PSI of your turbo. The B7 comes with about 12-13PSI stock... Obviously, the factory sets is at this level for reliability and high tolerance issues. Most companies like Giac, Revo, APR and Neuspeed will essentially do the same thing, which is to set the PSI to say 20-22 PSI range. This means your turbo is squeezing more pounds per square inch of boost/air which translates into more HP for you.
Nothing else you can do, will yield has much HP as chipping the car. I could have bought an intake from Neuspeed, but Aaron their Engineer said don't bother, you won't notice much, plus the stock box is pretty good. The one thing that might make a dif is less restrictive cat, and exhaust, but again, not by much... maybe 10_15hp.
Chip will get you 25-35 rear wheel hp. It's the way to go I think. I got mine done at Neuspeed yesterday, and am loving it!

after chip go exhaust, high flow cat, performance exhuast, then go for a FMIC by that time you will need S4 fuel injectors and a larger fuel pump and then another ECU flash thats even more agressive, then eventually a larger turbo
Stage 1 Chip flash (if you need more powere, APR for instance will let you go to stage 2 for free)
Stage 2 Chip Flash will require an intake or drop in filter and downpipe at a minimum. Full exhaust not required.
You will enjoy a chip. I just had APR put in my GTI (same engine).
