Looking to buy B7 A4 quattro 2.0t, what to look for / ask about
Hello everbody,
I'm new to the forum as well as the world of Audis (well not yet!), so I'm looking to buy a 2006/2007 A4 Quattro 2.0T. I always loved Audis and have a particular love for this one. I'm looking to buy a used one with a budget of approximately $15k. I'm looking for something with decent miles 50-80k and obviously good condition. What sort of Audi specific things should I be asking about / looking for on a car with that mileage. What is manufacturer recommended maintenance around this mileage? What kind of things are clear indications of issues with the motor, electronics, etc? There is one car in specific I am looking at. The ad reads the following:
"...
I have had the car a little over a year and have had no problems. The certified warranty is valid until 5/11/2012 or up to 100,000 miles. I am asking $17,000 or best offer.
Additional Info:
Miles - about 56,000
Transmission: 6-speed Manual w/ OD
Exterior color: Brilliant Black
Interior color: Ebony
Leather seats
Passenger/Driver Air Bags
Climater Control
Dual Zone A/C
Cassette/CD/Ipod hookup and Satellite radio
Power Everything
Sunroof
..."
I checked the carfax and it does not appear to has any obvious mileage rollbacks or accidents. The first owner was a lease until ~38k miles and sold by the dealer as an Audi Certified Pre-Owned to the the current owner. What should I be asking about for this particular card? Any advice is highly appreciated.

2nd, That car will no longer have a certified warranty if it is a private sale. Only Audi dealers can sell certified cars and give you the 100k warranty because they have tracked every scheduled maintanence and oil change. Do not let a private sell trick you to think you have a warranty after the factory 50K has expired. Not gonna happen. Now go find one from a dealer if warranty is important to you and it should be if you are fine buying a German car with 80k miles.
