My daughter just bought a Audi 4 and I guess I will be the one working on it. My question is on the oil. My local store does not carry Mobil 1 0w-40 as you guys advise. How about Advanced Full Synthetic Mobil 1 10w-40 High Mileage.
We live in Las Vegas and rarely see temps below 40 degrees. Thanks for you help you will be getting many questions in the future as this is my first German car to work on.

Castrol Syntec (Edge) 5W-40

 

I use the full syn in my car. I use the 5w30 most of the time.

 

get a synthetic of whatever weight flavor you'd like. Either of the two mentioned above will work. Stay away from high mileage oil. That stuff has stuff in it that will swell your gaskets (to stop oil leaks is the intention) which your car likely doesn't need.

 

i use and love the mobil 0w40. check out walmart.com, they should be able to have it shipped to a local store, usually for free. i get 5qt jugs for about $25. cant beat it.
