How many motor mounts are there in the B7 and how do they cost from the dealer. My indy is gonna put them in but I'm not sure if there's two or three. Anyone know how many, and how much do they cost?

There are three total, although the two on the side of the engine are the ones that are probably bad. On is on the drivers side, other passenger side. The part numbers depend on the transmission in the car. There are different part numbers for quattro, non quattro, 6sp, tiptronic, and the CVT. But, the mounts all seem to be in the 130-138 dollar range. If the snub mount is bad it's 9.00 dollars. That one is on the front of the engine under the radiator area.

 

Mine were leaking oil and making clunking sounds when i went over manhole covers..

Engine mounts from the dealership were:
3.00 hours at 115.00= 345.00
1 mount 8E0199379BH @ 174.90
1 mount 82AJ @ 186.30
TOTAL $716.02


Thanks to everyone who takes the time to post. i have been a member of this site since i bought my b7 a4 in 2007 and have benefited from the posts...they are appreciated. I never knew about these mounts and was embarrassed to learn about them. My experience with engine mounts have been just rubber blocks and bolts :-) and learned again something new about my almost 7 year old car!

She is serving me well at 104k! Timing belt was reasonable too at:

6 hrs labor = 668
water pump 100
coolant 24.33
tooth belt 80.00
tensioner 130.32
roller 68.00
roller 88.10
TOTAL $1159.00

 

Thanks for the input phosphateb mine has about 90k i was thinking about the belt around 100k.

Just had my mounts replaced at 115,000 miles. Both were bad. Engine was really vibrating. $1000 at the dealer. It's a real pain since the mount on the turbo side of the engine is so hard to get at, that the engine has to be lifted.

 

I had 2 replaced at 75K. Dealer said they were 'leaking'. Didn't realize these cars had hydraulic motor mounts....

Anywho. Dealer quoted me at 4 hours, but had it done in 1.5... It was under warranty, so I didn't have to pay for anything. Wonder if that made a difference?
