Royal Pyrple or Amsoil?
I was going to pick up some Royal Purple today but the guy at the race shop told me that Amsoil was better. He couldn't tell me why, just that it was better and that Royal Purple was good stuff as well.
What are your collective thoughts?

 

neither oil is certified to VW standards. i just roll with mobil 1. that other stuff is overpriced.

 

i just bought castrol syntec 5W-40 fully synthetic

Didn't you just get your car a couple of months ago? Changing the oil already!
I'm only giving you crap 'cause I'm the same way...constantly trying to find something better.

Here's a link to the newest listing of oils that Audi/VW has certified to meet their standards. Royal Purple isn't on the list, but that probably doesn't mean a thing.

ya i got my car in june... but it was used so the last time the probably changed the oil was at the 35k mile marker im guessing so i might as well!
