Default Oil on top of engine! Is there anything wrong??

Hey guys. My car is over at the service center getting an oil change and tire rotation. I got a call from them saying there was oil all over the top of the engine. The guy said everything SEEMS normal but they'll clean it up and check everything out.

I have the APR tuning software, so i'm kind of nervous. Could this oil spillage have anything to do with the turbocharger? God i hope not. Any help would be great. Thanks.

probobly not....in all hoenstly they prolly spilled oil pouring it back in....if it was a blown turbocharge everything would not seem ok and oil would be everywhere in your engine bay not just on the top of your enigine

yeah, i honestly doubt that it has anything to do with the turbo and your APR software that has caused the oil to leak onto the top of your engine... its anything its poor gasket somewhere perhaps or the oil cap wasn't screwed on tightly and some may have leaked out of there during hard driving.... have you got the car back yet? did they figrue out you had your car chipped

make sure the pcv valve is not broken. that can cause oil on top of the valve cover

thanks a lot for the replies everyone. I actually didn't take the car to the dealership for this oil change. Last time I did that, they erased the APR Software so I had to get it done again.

The car is driving great, not throwing any codes. I wiped around the oil cap yesterday before I went out and checked it when I got home and found that the oil had returned around the cap. The cap is tight. I really have no idea what could be wrong.

maybe too much oil... the pcv valve wouldn;t cause oil to be on the engine shrouding which is what i'm guessing your talking about

yeah it could just be that you have too much oil in there which is causing it to get ontop of the engine

My 06 started smoking a little last night and I noticed oil on top of the motor. It seemed to be coming from the oil cap. I wiped it down and took it out for a quick romp this morning - more oil. Again, some oil is definetly coming from the cap, but there also seems to be oil coming from the valve cover seal. The car is competely stock (except for the K&N) and there are no associated caution lights.

I'll be taking it to the dealer this week.

Thanks. Let me know how it goes. I've been monitoring it and it seems to have subsided slightly but I'd still like to know what the problem is. Keep me posted!

I just spoke to the service department at the Audi dealer. They know what the problem is and have a fix for it. He said to bring it in today - and not to drive it any more than absolutely necessary.

I'll ask more questions when I drop it off.
