Default p2181 Error

Hello all, I'm new and I have a 2005.5 A4 2.0T Quattro 6spd Sedan with 129k miles on it. I've gotten a reoccurring p2181 error through the ODBII computer and was wondering if this is the correct part to buy.

Any other suggestions on sources, or other parts I may need or want to replace while I'm in there would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

first you need to have your car scanned with the proper VAG tool and not a generic OBDII reader (I'm assuming).

The NAPA part you reference is the correct thermostat. You can pick it up for $45 from blauparts.

However, your problem could also be the coolant temp sensor, or the waterpump. With 129K miles, when was the last time your timing belt was changed? The waterpump and thermostat are components that are typically replaced during the timing belt service.
