Default PCV valve and BOV mods B7 A4 2.0TQ

hey im just lookin around and was wondering if anyone had any details about upgrading the PCV valve (specifically the stage 1&2 from www.parts4euro.com)
now my car isnt having any issues or anything but i was wondering if this might be an easy/cheap mod i could do on my own. i know some people will say 'if it aint broke dont fix it' but im itchin to do some work on my car and thought this might a good start. also, i saw some things on here with differing opinions about the Forge BOV spacer and whether or not it is worth it. again, i think this would be a relatively cheap and easy mod that i would like but i want to know if there are any negative effects. does ANYONE have one or something similar installed? any true stories good or bad?

thanks
david

BTW this has been covered in the Sticky up top.

I just put this in another post so i'm just gonna paste it again.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Diverter, PCV valve, Ignition Coils (Currently on recall but there would be some sort of miss) Actuall my car felt super sluggish whenbeating on it to show it to a friend but was not missing. The next day it started missing bad so it could be an early coil problem.

Diverter Valve is usually the main culpret. The older style valves depending on month and year of car are made with a diaphram inside to releave pressure and they tear very easily abd more so if any extra power is added to the car. There is a newer version that uses a piston instead of a diaphram and is as strong and better than aftermarket ones. The stock revision "D" is also maintainance free unlike aftermarket ones as well.

Make the following purchases now and do yourself a favor.

Buy a new DV revision "D". $79.95 shipped from ECS http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/Dive...alve/ES263879/
Buy a BSH PCV Fix. $99.99 Better than any stock revision or any other aftermarket PCV. http://www.bshspeedshop.com/store/pr...7&cat=0&page=1

I also saw in another thread that you asked about the Forge spacer and "D" Valve. Make sure it is the newest Spacer that fits the "D" Valve as the older ones will not fit. Get the right one and it will work great. It will be loud as crap though. If you like the BOV sound you will surely get it. Get these parts and enjoy.

thanks, i spent hours last night trying to coordinate all the different things. there is a lot of info about the products but i havent really found many stories about using them.

right now im settled on the BSH PCV kit (either stage 1 or 2, idk yet), the ECS D valve, and the correct Forge BOV spacer
now i just have to wait for some money and warm weather

Just get the regular BSH $99 kit. Don't worry about anything with a catch can as they will freeze in the winter and cause problems.

Just get what I listed and you are golden. The BSH will come with a little Cap for blocking off a section on your PCV as well. If you ever buy a nice boost gauge tap, this cap will go right on the end of that. It is really a sweet setup. BSH also makes a nice Tap but 42DD has a great one and so does Forge and they are both the best of the 3. The Tap is a sweet little deal that slides inline with this PCV manifold stuff and makes it so there is no cutting and is really trick.

You should pull your DV off and see which one you have. I see your car is an 08 so you may have a "D" valve already. Not hard to pull off at all. 3 hex bolts.

Boost gauge is pretty cool but really good to get a base reading and to easily tell if you have a leak. Chicks dig the gauge too. Well ummm unless you are my wife and say WTF did you buy that for? lol

do you have any pics of the location or anything? i gave it a quick glance the other day but not from the underside which i assume is the way to get at it. also, do you know of anyone that makes a repair manual for an 08 A4? the only audi manual iv found is for 96-01 A4/jetta. i dont even think audi of america makes one

hahaha yea i was attempting to explain to my GF what i wanted to do and she didnt get it. was tellin me how an audi is sleek and sophisticated and i shouldnt mess with it, but whatever lol

Yea, from comparing the two it looks like ECS Tunings is more of a replacement while the BSH is more of an upgrade. Soooo stock replacement or aftermarket upgrade... decisions decisions
