Just revisited the chip issue with the dealer regarding the 2006 I am buying. They used to think it was OK, and now do not. Apparently they had some instances where Audi rejected warranty claims on chipped cars, and so they now are telling people that warranty will not cover chipped cars.
Just sharing this for possible benefit of other owners.
I will not be putting a chip on my car until after the certified used car warranty expires, which will be quite a long time from now on a 2006 car with 20,000 miles.

it doesn't void the whole warranty. they would have to prove the chip directly caused the problem. and you can get it reflashed for free once you buy the software from a company, so all you would need to do is reset your ecu before you took it in, then when you get it back you get it reflashed
and there are some dealerships that have a performance section and are authorized dealers for APR or REVO, so they flash your car and you get to keep your warranty

chaos has it down, they cant void aproblem with the sunrooffor instance because of the chip
also keep in mind, few people tune their cars compared to the total # of cars in the market... dealers arent looking for reasons to void your warranty and they cant see the chip anyway... i would do it... i have 77k and have only had one thing fail, the fuel pump (a known problem)... and i was out of warranty anyway...

What is the meaning of reset the ECU, how do you do that, and what is the subsequent reflash you mention? ...and is the same service agency doing that? Do people buy something with which they can reflash components for themselves?
I am pretty new to the electronic performance enhancement stuff. I am old school, I guess you would say. Mechanical.

If you look on APR website they say that once you have bought it if you have to replace and ECU or reset it that they will update and reflash for free. So you would just take if back to the same APR shop and have them reinstall again.

I got the APR chip for a 2.0 quattro and for an additional 150, you can get a stock program. You use the cruise control with the car off to switch between the chip and the stock and the dealer will never even know your car is chipped. Even if they do, like it's been said, the chip had to cause the problem. I just shut my chip off when I go to the dealer. I haven't gotten my 0-60 time yet...I've only had it for 1 week, but there's a nice difference.

Yeh I'd really like to know the 0-60 times and 1/4 mile times for APR, GIAC and REVO. I still haven't chipped my car cos my only local dealer (GIAC) closed down and is now working with some bimmer and porche guys lol.
I think i might get the APR fuel pump or get the better b7 fuel pump cos mine's fucked up twice so far since I have the first 07 to hit Nevada (I ordered the car at the dealership within the hour the new 07's were available lol)
I hate vegas with their lack of audi tuners!!!

I thought Audi would void the drivetrain warranty if the car was/is discovered to be chipped. I also thought it varied from dealer to dealer as to whether or not they would look the other way.
If you have multiple programs, can dealers at least see if menu options come up by using the cruise control? Or, does locking it prevent any menu options from appearing at all?
