Pink Fluid Continuation thread
Hi
Just spoke to the repair shop and they said that there was a service bulletin to replace an
O-ring bY THE engine and they have to find out how much it cost's from Audi and then
put together a cost.
What bothers me if my Audi was at an Audi dealership no more then 3 wks ago
Then why didn't they say something?
Thanks
Alan

holy cow for that price I'd be fixing it myself. Shouldn't be too difficult if you are at least a little mechanically inclined. ask them where exactly the o ring is at. I don't think the dealership would of said anything until it actually started to leak, unless you knew about it before hand and mentioned it to them. and +1 on no need for new thread.

Hi
On some sites the IPad just doesn't work like it should, using the MAC IOS is quite different then the Microsoft system.
Anyway lets just move on!
It appears that they ordered from Audi a group of parts and to fix it properly being that it is
time consuming brings up the labor charge.
Tomorrow they will give me a breakdown on parts, time and what they did.
Thanks

Sounds like the thermostat housing o-ring. This is a pretty labor intensive job and is probably a few hours even for a master Audi mechanic. If I'm rushing I can probably get to the thermostat o-ring in about two hours on my 2.7T. This isn't including putting it all back together.

after my tbelt job the thermostat was leaking at the o ring, come to find out it got pinched when my buddy installed it.
i just released the tension on the belt, removed the belt removed the alternator to get to the thermostat.
removed thermostat, changed o-ring and reinstalled everything. whole job was 2hrs. will take a lot less time now that i know how to get the tensioner moved and if i have my o-ring before hand.
