Quattro
I know you guys hate when someone brings something up thats already been discussed, but im lazy and dont feel like searching. Anyways, i was just wondering what the ratio is for the awd system for a 2007 a4 quattro. Like is it 80% front and 20% back or 70% front and 30% back for the hp and torque for the awd system.
It's 50/50, unless there is slippage, at which it can go as much as 75/25 to either axle. In 2006, the S4 and RS4's started getting a 40 front 60 rear default torque ratio unless there is slippage then the torsen would adjust the torque. In 2009 with the B8 body all A4's got the default 40/60 split. In 2010 the system was tweeked again with some preload in the torsen so that having one axle on ice, or a wheel in the air wouldn't dump all the power and cause the car to come to a stop.
The 40/60 gives the car a more rear drive feel, which helps minimize the minor front drive characteristics that can appear with the 50/50 split. Also I've been told that since these cars are very nose heavy, pulling some of the power off the front helps improve how these cars drive. BMW 3 IX series also started with a 50/50 split and soon changed that to a 30/70 split, because even though those cars are 50/50 front rear weight distribution the 50/50 power split changed the handling more than BMW liked. Now BMW has a Haldex center diff, so there is now 0 power to the front unless there is slippage and then the diff engages.
