Default Regular Gas for 2005.5 2.0T Q ?

Got my 2005.5 2.0T Quattro last week.
The dealer said i could use regular gas.
But i found that recommended gas is octane 91 - premium.
Pls advise.

Use 91. The higher compression ratio in our engines means a lower octane gas can't be burned as efficiently. Knock sensor should prevent damage to your car, but it won't perform as well. If you look at the gas cap, it should say 91.

91! gas is more affordable now, so dont feel bad. The dealer lied to you, you can only put 91 and if you chip your car and do 89 or 87, it will not be good for performance

okay the 89 octane with ethanol gets much less gas mileage than the 93 BP gasoline. for me it was 4.5 miles per gallon less! i hate the ethanol mix and only buy it in a crunch because you get less gas mileage! 10% ethanol is a rip off IMO. if it cant be 100% why do we use it at all??
