Default Replace Passenger Side Headlight Assembly

Hi everyone,

I have an 08 A4 Special Edition with the sport package. I got hit and run in a parking lot. The bumper cover, grille, and right headlight assembly need to be replaced.

The place I want to take it to is booked. My inspection sticker runs out this month and I won't pass with the cracked headlight. I want to replace the light myself.

I can't seem to get the right headlight assembly out. It looks like the bumper cover needs to come off because I need at least one inch on the right side to get it out. All torx screws are out. I can move it around but can't get it out.

Any suggestions?

I didn't read through this, but maybe it will help you. Let me know if it does.

Yeah, you need to take the bumper cover at least part way off.

Check out this DIY for clear corner: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2860816

It tells you how to take off the bumper and headlight. I followed it myself last week.

Thanks for the responses on this. eMacPaul, those instructions are going to be very helpful. I am hoping I can just take off the right side torx screws, etc and pull the bumper enough to slide the light out. I only need about one inch.

the bumper needs to be replaced anyway. this is just a temp fix to get my inspection sticker which expires tomorrow. would have liked to get everything done at once but the shop has a wait.

Thumbs up

Got this done today. Passed state inspection.

Getting the bumper loosened up and partially off was a bit of a pain. I am by no means a mechanic but have basic skills.

Thanks everyone.
