replacing oil filter
ok so im going to be changing my oil for the first time this week, and have been looking on the forums about which oil filter to use and i don't know what one to chose from. I have also heard that i should look for the bigger ones as they allow for about 0.5quarts more oil in the oil pan to aid in cooling etc... what one should i buy and where? also, should i consider the oil changing kit that ecstuning offers or just buy my own stuff?

i got the link to work after a bit but yeah that pack seems fine i prefer different oil but the megnetic oil plug is good to have (you get the see all the metal shavings your engine produces when you change the oil)
ya, i was just reading on either another thread or another forum that K&N wasnt one of the better ones for some reason which seems odd to me... i ended up just buying castrol 5W-40 from autozone and got an oem filter from the dealership as i want to change my oil this weekend and didnt want to wait, so unfortunately i dont have the magnetic drainplug, but next time i will probably buy the drain plug from them, unless you know of a place where they sell them.
As far as good filters that i have read up on, obviously you cant go too wrong with oem, but other ones are Bosche, Mann and Mahle(sp?)

For reference, here's the list of oils approved by VW for 502 standards as of 2005: http://pics.tdiclub.com/data/500/vw_tb_17-05-04.pdf
ya there are plenty of oils that will work and are approved by audi, but basically the most important thing is to make sure it is fully synthetic and i think for the most part if you go with a 5W-40 you should be ok if its by a well known oil company like Castrol or someone like that
