hey guys i'm new to my 08 audi and i'm loving this thing i have fallen in love with my first euro car, i'm a tech at ford so all i do is work on cars but this one confuses me as far as setting my phone up with the car. i got the Bluetooth part all figured out and i can scroll threw my contacts using my left hand scroll but if i push the button on the right side of steering wheel where i have the option to say dial then it says i have no contacts even though i can see my contacts on my center led screen. i can receive and make calls using the phone but would like to be all hands free. thanks and sorry for the noob question. my phone is an iphone 4s

 

Anyone please? Or do I have to purchase the phone dock for my center council to make thst part work?

 

do you have the full owners manual kit? there is a separate booklet for the radio and ****. that will tell you how to save the contacts from your phone and set up the voice dialing. unfortunately, you have to speak each name and save it to the car. you shouldnt need to buy anything else though.
let me know if you dont have the booklet and ill check mine for more specific instructions

 

Unfortunately voice dialing for our cars is a completely separate from the contacts database that was synced via your bluetooth. You have to store each name and number by speaking to robot-chick. I think you have to say "store name" and then say the name, then repeat it and then the number. Robot chick will let you know. You can say the whole number all at once or in groups of 3 or something, I can't remember, but it's not too hard. I found it to be much much easier if you speak very quietly, rather than shouting it out. Also, your mic is somewhere in your mirror or the lights above, so if you have ac/fan on and your middle blowers are pointed up, it'll catch a lot of noise. Just turn it off when you store names, but keep it in mind when you talk to people while driving, just point the blowers down during your calls, don't have to turn off fan completely. Hope this helps.

another small gripe is that it syncs ALL your contacts. so if you have a lot of facebook contacts and ****, itll all show up in the phonebook when you scroll with the thumbwheel. i have them hidden on my phone but the audi still shows em. ugh.

 

Thanks for the great info guys! I only have the one thick user manual for the car so nothing about radio and phone. Is there anyway to select contact on there steering wheel to call insted of having to use the phone to find the contact?

 

Ok I think I know what you are asking...

When you are scrolling through your contacts and find the one you want displayed, push down on the same scroll wheel/button. Then 'Robot Chick' (LOL) will say 'The number is being dialed' in her SEXAY voice.

 

Yeah, "Robot Chick" is my PC version for the forum. In reality I call her German B!$ch, since more often than not, she'll say she's "sorry" signifying she won't even attempt to understand me ( I have a foreign accent). Always gets a laugh out of people riding in my car, especially when I start swearing at her in different tongues.

 

yea, if you scroll with the left thumbwheel, find the contact you want and then press/click the thumbwheel, it should call them
