Default Selling / Trading the A4

Sad day but as you know I am a fan of Warranty so she has to go. 86,000 miles. I swapped my 18" S4 wheels off yesterday and put the stockers back on. All I can saw is wow what a difference in handling. It feels like it wants to roll over in the corners now. 18's are sweet.

Picking up my 2011 MB C300 4matic (AWD) Sport this afternoon. Very nice car. I will miss the turbo but this gets out of its own way for sure. Funny as I looked at the new A4's and this was more affordable.

I still hanve my GTI so I will still offer my input and knowledge if people need help. Benz is for the wife and she's happy with it.

I am sure the wife will love the MB. Was it hard dropping $30 to $40K on the car? Not a check I would want to write!

It sure does!!!

I leased this one. $2k down and about -$2k equity on my trade. $490 a month. This dealer is actually a MB and Audi dealer. The base Audi was the same or more than the fully pimped out C300. I don't get it cause they have similar pricing. MB just has better lease incentives.

I liked both cars and probably would have chipped the Audi and it would be much faster but the MB is slick and it boiled down to price in the end. I looked at the BMW 328xi and it looked nice but the interior was horrid. It did not feel classy and felt like something from the early 90's.

Not a big fan of leasing as it is like renting you never own what you are paying for. Works for you though as you want to have a warranty. I wouldn't want a $490 a month payment again that is for sure! We had a Maxima that ran us $420/mo on a four year loan several years ago. Hated righting that check too!

Ive had payments in the 400's for years and always end up close to BB vale / trade in even or at a negitive equity anyway. As long as you are fine with your mileage package and always swap cars then leasing works. I personally always keep my wife in newer cars so buying would have been more expensive. If you are the type to hold your car until it's paid off then leaseing usually does not work.

I'm going to lease my next one as well for my car as I work from home now and drive about 3 miles a day in daycare runs only. I can get a low miles lease even cheaper. I was thinking of a Jeep Wrangler 4 door. I want something with 4wd that looks decent, not too expensive and has a bit more room than my GTI as we are probably going to add another child soon. I hate the usual SUV scene. My budjet would be lower so no 40K SUV's for me.

I'm with you. I leased once--never again. I'm not a fan of the eternal car payment, either. It was actually hard to go back to one when I got my Audi. The Mustang I traded in had been paid for for about 8 years and my wife's Grand Cherokee for about 2 at the time.

To each their own...

3 miles to work you lucky @#$%! I use to drive 5 miles. Now it is, wait for it, 47 miles ONE WAY!!! That is why I traded my A6 S-Line for my Mazda as I wanted (needed) better fuel mileage. I never even thought about a 4cyl Audi A4 (duh). That is why I am thinking about getting back into one.

Needless to say there is no lease in the world that would be good for my mileage! I shouldn't complain as:

#1. I do have a job.
#2. I get to work from home atleast one day a week and can if needed do that more often.

If gas breaks $4.gallon here I may go to 2 days a week from home.

I hear what you say. I was thinking about selling our M5 and buying something more "practical" and economical. In the end, I ended up putting in $2k to fix odds and ends and held on to a great, fast and fun car. The mpg's still suck, but the money spent on another car would have easily been more than I would have saved on the additional gas. For most, leasing doesn't make sense unless you can write off the cost of the lease. It's nice to be able to drive a new car every 3-4 years, but at what cost? A $400/month payment is $3600/year and $14.2k over 4 years...and you don't own anything at the end. There are also restrictions and the car has to be pretty much pristine when returned. But, for some, it's the way to go. We've owned 24 cars and none were leased.
