Default Trunk problem (pic inside)

Hey guys so recently I started having this problem with the car telling me that the trunk is not closed eventhough it is. Also at the same time the alarm is does not arm properly. So I took the cover off and tried unplugging the sensor from the harness and bam the alarm works and no trunk open light, however as soon as I plug it back in, it doesnt work again. Could it be the microswitch?

This is what Im talking about

maybe your trunk locking mechanism (the big piece of metal to the left of your hand) has a piece that broke off or something that isn;t hitting the right switch letting your car know that the trunk is closed and the sensor that is in your hand is programmed only to let you know if the trunk is open and not closed

with that piece disconnected your car assumes that the trunk is closed, which is also why your alarm works again because nothing is registering as open

i guesssss you could bring it into audi but they are likely to charge you a big markup for the part that broke or something that could be more wrong

if you are 100% sure that the trunk closes and shuts properly i would just keep that disconnected

another way of checking to see if your trunk is closed but just not registering, plug that connector back in, shut your trunk, and fold down one of the back seats and see if the trunk light is still on....
