Default Tuning questions

Hi Everyone,

I'm new here (1st post), and was wondering what you all could tell me about tuning my 08 A4 Quattro. I love my A4 (I got the S-line with the Auto Paddle shift, but am eager to get going on some minor tuning.

I've been doing a bit of research as far as engine programs/chips, and have heard very good things about Neuspeed (best of all I'm only an hour from them). Apart from the various modes, APR seems like the same thing with maybe a bit less power returns. I personally don't care to have the ability to switch programs, so it's not a selling point to have APR.

I was also wondering what other small mods I should make currently on my list, apart from chip, will be tires. I think the Pirellis P7 are ok winter tires, but horrible in terms of grip.

Thanks again, and sorry if these questions have already been asked.

Cheers!

Al

The advantage of being able to switch programs is so that Audi won't blame it on your being chipped if you have to have some warranty work done, because you switch back to stock before you take it in.

Oh, I see. Well I have a good friend who is a service advisor at audi who tells me it's virtually impossible for the dealer to figure that out, Either way, I have him as a connection.

thanks for the response.

if you still looking for a chip, hit up canyonracermotorsports.com ask for Michael (owner) my phone is off, so i cant get you his number.

He does revo flashing, which is what I have on my car. Worth every penny, tell him you know Randy (me) and he will get you a good deal. He can also set you up with a free trial of Revo

I'm still looking, I spoke to Neuspeed, and they are actually willing to give me a nice deal... They just want me to get the 15k service before I bring it to them. They mentioned that unlike APR, their software is not PERMANENTLY imbedded into the cars computer... so that's a big issue for me... I think Neuspeed is definitely the way to go.

Anyway, how much does this co charge for it?

Ok, 15K service done at 13500 Hee.hee.. and I'm off to Neuspeed tomorrow for the chip- reflash.

I know there are plenty of Revo, APR, and Giac fans here, but I'm gonna give Neuspeed and shot, and report on the results tomorrow...

Hopefully it goes well...

Wish me luck!!!

All done!

I was at Neuspeed in Camarillo for an hour or so. Talked to Aaron for a bit regarding both expected performance, reliability, and lack of forum presence.

When I got the car back, I hammered it wide open for a block or so... WOW!!! big difference... I'm very impressed with Neuspeed. There is quite a boost in torque that builds up as the revs progress. There is still a tiny bit of lag when you mash the throttle from a stand-still, but it's greatly improved! On the freeway, I gassed it from 60mph and I can only say that it was quite a pleasure to feel as the car seemed to just build up power I cut it at 128, because I was running out of free room in front!!

Now, I can't say i've ever driven in a car with a revo, ARP or GIAC chip, so it would be impossible to compare, but I can tell you the power delivery of the Neuspeed is extremely linear, and in my opinion very usable in everyday driving. I asked them to show me dyno charts, which the did... it was an 06 A3 that they had dynoed with the following results

252.3hp at 3500 RPM, and 297.2 Ft-lb or Torque.

Now I don't really plan to dyno my car to verify these results, but I am most satisfied with these results....$428 total price.

I will report if there are any issues that arise.

Bye
