Default Want my turbo to be louder...

I have a 2005.5 2.0T FWD automatic. How can I make my turbo louder without spending that much money and without messing up my car. It would be cool if it could kick in at a lower RPM also. I barely notice it as is. Do I just need a different blow-off valve?

there is no blow off valve on these audi's, we have what is called a diverter valve, the only difference is that the blow off valve releases its pressure into the atmosphere while the diverter valve puts it back into the intake. All you have to do is buy 1 of the cone filters from autozone and completely rip out your airbox and the cone filter fits right onto the crinkle hose that has the MAF connected to it. You may need a new clip to hold the cone to the intake hose but thats no big deal. It makes the turbo and DV (diverter valve) 10 times louder for under 20$.

If you're not chipped, you can do that, as well. Your turbo will run harder, so you'll hear it more.

hook up a microphone near the turbo and run the microphone to your stereo system and CRANK IT UP!

I had a FWD CVT loaner for a few days once, and did notice that there seemed to be more turbo lag than in my car with the quattro and manual tranny. It also seemed to have the power suddenly hit at about 1800 RPM, making it hard to drive smoothly. You kinda had to back your foot off the peddle somewhat when it hit 1800 RPM or the tires would screech and the car would suddenly take off.

If you want the "Pssssitttt!" sound, get a DV and a spacer. Or get a cone intake and you will hear it then. But the cone has about a 90% chance of screwing up your cars ECU and making it run like crap. I went through it and wouldn't recommend that road at all.

im running a cone filter and its working just fine....no maf codes, just make sure u put a heat shield in to prevent heat soak, i just used an aluminum shield that i bet and molded to fit nicely right above the turbo
