Default Weird stutter while accelerating

I have looked through the forums and have read all of the DQ and 100-300 Rpm during cruising threads. This is not like that, the car runs smooth as day. If i accel softly it works like it should. Under 45-70% throttle once the rev reaches 2800 and stops doing it at around 5000. It feels as though it is sputtering. But the engine noise and feel is soft and normal. Power loss is felt when it "Jerks" a few times, then feel like it breaks through. Now i wouldnt say ALOT of power is lost just noticable and rpm's do seem to react to what i feel. I almost want to say it's as though turbo leak. No codes and when in "S" gear i feel it alot less. Car accels fine past 5K. This also happends in every gear. Easy to duplicate. Will post vid to YT as soon as i can. Full throttle seems to not jerk as much and accels more normal.

Pretty much stock, Did full timing kit from ECS with water pump and the tensioner w/belt.
Exhuast from CC back.
Forge BOV DV

This started just a day ago after break pads were changed.

sounds like a classic case of coil packs. Talk to you dealer about them, I think they are covered under a warranty still. But that sounds like the problem.

well, like I said, talk to your dealer about them, I thought there was an extended warranty on those, just like theres an extended warranty on the cam follower. Worth a try if you can get them replaced for free.

I've noticed the same "sputter" on take off which almost feels like turbo lag or possibly worse, a trans problem (auto). Doesn't seem to do it when I use the paddle shifters though?

You know im really really hoping it is not the trans, because if anything it would be the TC and that would suck big ones. Any way to check if it's a coil? Seems the warrenty only went to 2007's. Now there is no code poping up, so could it be a vacume leak somewere? Put wouldnt it get worse under full load? Up to about 2800 it's just fine under any load.

Is this when you're lightly accelerating or when you have your foot in it hard? If it's lightly or normal acceleration, I'm willing to bet your car is just shifting from 1st to 2nd. Watch the gear indicator when you take off from a stop. Mine stutters too, but I figured out it was just switching gears almost immediately (goes away in sport mode as well).

Doesn't sound like a TC problem. I'm not sure of a way to check the coil. If there was check engine light and it told you which cylinder it was that was mis firing, then it'd be easy to check the coil because you could swap that cylinder coil to a different cylinder and see if that mis fire follows the coil you swapped around. As far as a vacuum leak, have you replaced your DV valve? The stock ones have been known to tear the boot inside and you lose boost (which will throw a code if it loses enough). Other than that, any other vacuum leak really shouldn't have an effect for sputtering. But stranger things do happen sometimes. I just noticed you're in WA state. Where are you at in WA? I'm from south of Spokane!

In the Puget sound area around Tacoma. Im glad you think it's not a TC, would suck alot. I will be taking it to my buddys shop "Europian Auto Clinic" here in Federal Way. He will do a personal check for me and try to figure this out. It's not during shifting the shifts are smooth. I can recreate the effect just holding it in any gear. Always around 2500-4500 any gear. Keep in mind it feels like maybe 20% power loss. Not very drastic and if i push hard it feels almost like "It breaks through" that effect faster. Watch it's nothing but some oil flying into my intake from the turbo leaking. ( ordered a rebuild kit today) 90K here in a bit figuered i'd do it.

Update~~~~~
So i had a shop check it for me. Seems the fuel pressure sensor may be at fault here. He took it out and drove it normal, did not do the stutter. Go out on the free way and seems the fuel pump would begin to act up and start "pending" a code but then refreshes and does not throw the code once off the throttle a bit. Seems a new fuel pump is in order, or maybe the sensor first. Any DIY's out there for the sensor?

Found a video online for the cam fallowers and it explained step by step how and were of the fuel pump. I will keep you informed here of what fixes this problem.
