Default What is that electronic thing in the front center armrest?

I haven't been able to find this answer anywhere. I'm looking at buying one of 2 2008 A4's and one has an empty armrest and the other has some sort of black plastic electronic thingy in it. What on earth is that??

it shows a picture in your owners manual of what that is... its a phone dock my audi actually came with the dock( that can be purchased at your local audi dealer) and you can program your phone with your OEM stereo :be it the audi symphony or audi orchestra unit, to work with your phone, to make calls, its pretty pointless now witht the whole smartphone era. BLUE TOOTH is where its at lol .

I haven't bought the Audi yet so I don't have the owner's manual yet. But thank you. That does seem somewhat pointless. It's ONLY used for making calls? Can it play music off the phone? That would be the biggest reason I would use it.

ahh i see
its all good

no, that does not play music, haha
there is an ipod dock in your glove compartment for your iPod ... but ive heard not all a4's have it so i would double check. i have an 08 AUDI A4 SLINE (idk if that even matters) and mine came with that, and ive even heard that your radio unit has an aux cable that can be connected to it, you can buy that cable on ebay. look up b7 aux cable

Oh okay now. The only way to have Bluetooth is to have that plastic craddle there so that tells me which cars have bluetooth and which ones don't! I think I want it so that makes my decision on which Audi to buy. Thanks everyone.
