Default Where could I buy a used B7 A4 in Boston?

I live near the cambridge area and am looking to buy an 06-07 audi a4 this summer.

Any suggestions as to where to look? I've checked out autotrader.com, ebay motors, craigslist, and the classifieds here.

Also, should I try really hard to buy from a private seller? I would really like to because of the cheaper prices in general, but there aren't many private sellers to begin with and most of the audis in the 06-07 range are from dealerships.

how much do you want to spend ? are you ready to buy NOW or just planning to buy in summer ?

this is a nice place to start. they specialize in Audis and they are flexible on price.

ps. i believe the website is not updated, so you better stop buy or call to check inventory.

also if you pay cash or bank check i might be able to help with auction cars. every month they sell 100s of A4s at auction in Boston. Thats where i bought my car yesterday .

Thanks for getting back to me. I've actually seen that dealership pop up quite often while searching online.

I'm looking to spend around $20-21K, maybe 22 TOPS. And once my semester ends within 2 weeks, I'll probably be looking around for one. I predict, or hope to have one within the next 1.5~2 months.

Could you tell me more about auctioning? I've heard you can reallllllly low prices, but you need a license or something. I actually tried looking into car auctions and the only thing I've come up with is that they're very lucrative and hard to find; also there's always the risk of picking a lemon.

How did you go about getting an a4 via auction? how much did you pay? What year is it? How's the condition? WHERE did you go? And do you need a license?

ok. my friend has license so i just go with him (for free of course). usually this type of service cost anywhere between 200-400 bucks. Best auction is in Framingham (only 5 minute from my house ). The so called "Top of The Line" auction where all nice cars are (MB, Saab, Audi, BMW, etc) is held once every month, in the end on month. Few weeks before auction you get listing of all cars they sell (I believe you dont even need license to get it). You just subscribe and get it in your email (it gives you make, model, miles, and vin). I have login and password which give the ability to search specific car, look at pictures and find out all info (options, damage, etc.). Pictures come out about 2-4 days before auction (like i said actual listings come out about 2 weeks before auction and you do know if its auto or 6-speed).

what else..........well, you pick a car you like, check vin in carfax or autocheck, and go to auction the day its held, and purchase the car (its auction so my friend has to do the bidding. you just stand next to him and tell him how much you wanna bid max). At "Top of The Line" auction its VW Group that sells the cars and all cars are CLEAN and no bullshit, if the car has damage or some major problems, they WILL tell you that 100%. You also have an option to purchase so called Pre Qualified cars. These cars are in "Like New" condition, detailed, no accidents, no scratches, new brakes, tires, etc.......Those cars tend to cost a bit more just because dealers when purchase them dont have to do anything to them.

I bought 2008 A4 S-Line Quattro 7,800 miles for $25,000. This was the Pre Qualified car. There is at least $1,000 that I over paid for this perfect condition. A car with 20-30k miles will not have this markup.

ps. I suppose for an extra $100 you can come look at the car the day before auction and maybe even test drive it in the parking lot. (do a lap or two). Thats what i did.

those are for 2-3 previous months (including this month). Summer prices are a bit more. I thought my A4 would be below $24k, and I ended up paying $25k. Few month ago this car would have been $23-24k
