its not a waste of money if u live up in the northeast like i do where the temp ranges from 5 - 90 in the year....keeping your tires inflated properly gets better mpg...i'd do it for that reaosn alone
you can get nitrogen at pretty much any tire shop

I went to Costco today and asked about getting the Nitrogen for my tires and they told me they will only do it on tires that they put on the car. [:@]
well try looking around at a discount tires or butler tire or something along those lines, or to avoid going there for nothing call them before and ask them... can't take too much effort to do...
really? ill have to ask my friend at the audi dealership and see if they can hook me up wit some free nitrogen after all the problems i've had with them and all the fine print that when i bought my CPO A4
Just to let you guys know, thats the biggest scam/waste of money. Theory is that nitrogen molecules are fatter than traditional air molecules and resist seeping through tires quickly, which maintains pressure for longer. Fact, the molecular weight of outside air is about 0.92 and the molecular weight if nitrogen is 0.98. This is not a substantial enough difference to really make a noticable impact on mileage or how long your tires stay properly inflated. KEEP YOUR MONEY!!!!!!
