Would it void my Warranty?
Hi,
I have a 2006 A4. The brake pad light came on last week indicating that it's time to change the brake pads. Before I go to Audi dealership, I have a couple of questions:
1. Do I need to change pads only or pads+rotors. I do not have any problems at all with the car while braking that would indicate that rotors need to be changed, but that being said, my car has about 40K miles on it.
2. If I purchased good quality brake pads online and changed them myself or got them changed at "just brakes" or someplace similar, would it do anything to the manufacturer's warranty that I currently have or the extended warranty (I bought a CPO).
Any inputs will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
DD

1) change pads but resurface rotors, or get new rotors (resurfacing is a MUST either way)
2) no.....and yes hahaha warranties are tricky however if the dealership can link whatever future problem you have to an aftermarket product they will tell you the warranty is voided, however, if the problem is not related to the aftermarket part then you by law you have to be covered
example would be if u put new wheels+tires and you blow your turbo...since the problem cannot be linked to the new wheels you are covered
if you install a FMIC and blow ur turbo then audi will not cover it because the FMIC probobly (even if its not) will eb the cuase of the problem therefore you are not covered
