a4 avant or bmw 3 wagon?
THinking about popping for one of the 3 series wagons before the v6 is gone. Anyone here who has one that also has any experience w/ the A4 Avant? Also considering that guy. I really like the v6 but for some odd reason it doesn't feel as fast as the 2.0T, maybe it's the low end tq, not sure.
Anyway, I really do like the BMW but do any of you find it a bit small? Seems like a tighter (fit wise) ride than the audi.
Aesthetically, for me, the BMW has the edge, but both very nice....
Any input comparing the two by people who actually have had both would be appreciated.

I chose the A4 Avant in the end - slightly more room in every dimension, and generally was more comfortable with a FWD car over RWD in case of inclement weather, visits to ski resorts etc. The dealership experience was also far superior with Audi vs BMW. I'm in Brussels so I can't speak for how they will treat you in WA !
I made my decision four days ago, decided against the BMW, and purchased the 2012 A4 Avant.
Visually, the Audi exterior was more pleasing to my eyes then the BMW. I also found the interior to be more elegant.
The Quattro is in my opinion, the finest of all the four wheel drive vehicles. Then too, the acceleration of the impressive engine was an eye-opener.
Being able to get the mpg that the Audi delivers is important to me. The cost of fuel these days robs me from using funds for other family needs.
I like the space in the Avant. It allows more space for passengers as well as greater space to carry a wheel chair and walker plus groceries in rear section. The BMW fails in this instance.
Time will tell if my early impressions of this wagon will be validated. But for now,
I am well pleased choosing the Audi over the BMW.
Good luck with your choice.

having only spent a short while comparing both, i prefer the audi. the interior of almost all new bmws looks like it hasnt been changed at all since the early 90s, and is way too cold, bland, and outdated to warrant the prices they charge.
interior convenience, appearance and technology to me is very important, as thats where as drivers we spend the most time. dont get me wrong, both cars have fantastic driving dynamics, but the interior design and functionality always sways me to audi.

Agreed. We were coming from a 2002 MB C320 wagon and the BMW interior did not seem to be an update from that. Power and handling in the BMW were impressive but not significantly more than in the Audi while the overall experience in the Audi was superior.
